Custom Brushless DC Motor

This OEM is a leading manufacturer of commercial baking equipment and accessories. They needed a motor to be used in four different applications on a bread wrapping  machine. As a successful supplier of brushed DC motors for the company’s older machine, Groschopp had the opportunity to supply motors for the OEM’s newest design.

The Challenge:

• The same motor must be used for all four applications
• Motors must fit into very tight envelopes
• Motor duty cycles run from continuous in one direction, to changing directions every second or less
• Brush life problematic for short oscillating duty cycle
• Requires high torque in a small package

The Solution

• Custom designed Brushless DC Motor
• Ten pole 12 slot design provides high torque

Groschopp engineers worked closely with OEM to develop the small, powerful Brushless DC motor which is virtually maintenance free. New bearings bring expected life to 50,000 hours.
